Hotel, Travel, and Conference Information for Attendees to InterFaceRice 2024
The BioScience Research Collaborative (BRC) serves as a bridge between the adjacent Rice University campus and the Texas Medical Center. It’s purpose is to function as a collaborative life science research building where reseachers from Rice, the Baylor College of Medcine, UTHealth, and other medical institutions can house porjects and collaborate in new directions. It is similar in concept to the Clark Center/BioX at Stanford University and the Broad Institute at MIT, among other collaborative centers. The BRC opened its doors in 2009 and, since 2019, has been home to the Rice Neuroengineering Inititiative.

Accommodation

Getting to the Conference
George Bush Intercontinental Airport
- George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the main international terminal to Houston located approximately 25 miles from the Rice University BioScience Research Collaborative. Auto travel to/from this airport is around (~50 minutes) and should average between $45-60 for a hired ride share.
William P Hobby Airport
- William P. Hobby Airport is the main Southwest Airline terminal for Houston located approximately 12 miles from the Rice University BioScience Research Collaborative. Auto travel to/from this airport is around (~30 minutes) and should average between $25-40 for a hired ride share.

Transportation and Parking
Public transportation is available through metrorail, buses, and ridesharing. For more details, utilize How To Ride METRO.
The undergrdoung BRC parking facilities are off Dryden Street and comprised of a three-level underground garage with approximately 325,000 square feet of space and can hold up to 762 parked vehicles. The rate for the BRC Garage is $1 per 10 minutes, $12 daily maximum for each exit.
Parking is not included in the price of registration. The Payment method is by CREDIT CARD – At the garage entrance, the driver uses his/her credit card to both enter and exit the garage. There is an intercom system at each gate should there be any issues.
Travel and Visa
Attendees are responsible for their own travel plans and visas, as required. Please allow extra time for visa processing.
Visa invitation letters can be provided, upon request, by Hunter Capoccioni (capoccioni@rice.edu). To help expedite the request, please research the particular requirements of your country of citizenship and provide all relevant information in your request.
Information for Attendees with Children
InterfaceRice 2023 is centrally located near the Texas Medical Center, Rice University, Rice Village, Hermann Park, and downtown Houston. Across from the Bioscience Research Collaborative are numerous dining options and several METROrail stops that can take parents to Disvoery Green and other downtown Houston tourist sites.
Many employers offer childcare services for traveling employees so please be sure to check with your benefits department. There are also professional daycares near the conference (rates vary). InterfaceRice will offer parents designated quiet areas and a private nursing station near the conference auditorium. Parents with newborns and small infants are welcome at all conference activities.
